What To Expect

Hawaii Nautical

Honi Olani is a 53-foot catamaran that has both covered seating as well as outdoor seating. The configuration of the catamaran is great for viewing and picture taking of the Hawaiian Sunset. Enjoy this two hour cruises on the west side of the island which is known for its beautiful sunsets. Look for Dolphins Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles Humpback Whales [in season], and Flying Fish Board a sailing catamaran and sail past the immense Makaha Valley and see it in all its glory, peak to shore, in the beautiful late-afternoon lighting. The captains and crew will teach you about Hawaii’s long and storied history of the sea, from fishing, to pioneering surfing, and the Hawaiian art of way-finding – using paths of stars, the sun, clouds, wind, swell, even birds in flight to find their way across the vast ocean. After sunset, gaze at the stars as you return to the harbor, and try to match the constellations to the Hawaiian names on a Hawaiian sky map.

We were picked up at the Marriott Resort, with a short ride to the boat. The sail boat was a new looking ship. We were actually under sail for part of the cruise ... super quite. Great comfort on board. Everyone had a fine place to sit, stand or walk. The food was simple, but good. The crew was very helpful. The Captain was super. We have taken sunset cruises on other Islands. This was the BEST EVER.

So we have been on this sail 5 times , since we stay close by it's allways nice to go out and enjoy the sunset and meet a few people have a coctail and some food.. for the last 5 visits the food is the same , not bad but not great , the drinks are allways really nice.. the service is great allways friendly and helpful but this time there was a couple of things that were different, this review is probably more for the owners.. 1st the bus from the hotels was 20 minutes late we did not get under way until 5.25.. but i figured we would make up the time at the end ..but that did not happen instead the minute the sun set we were on are way back to the harbor.. which is part 2 of the problem we were literally 1000 yards from the entrance, we barely got into the open water , and he was all about moving quick to get us off that boat, clearly his agenda was get back , get off so they can call it a day.. I mean the whole reason for a susnet tour is to enjoy the sunset instead our trip was barely 1.5 hours. this is not good bussiness part 3 is the whole tip jar speech, of course your going to tip if ur having a good time but he was pushing this much harder than normal.. to the point of a pity party.. that makes for a difficult feeling to tip . we tipped because we understand the service industry and we were last off the boat and I saw only 2 others tip out of 30 guests , so obviously the tip speech is over the top.. i hope this review reaches managment , i want to sail again with them but not if the above conditions continue thanks

Fun crew, new large well equipped catamaran, wonderful sunset and moon rise, all on the same cruise! Even the pupus were good and the Catatonic drinks were great.
