Take a small-group guided dolphin kayak tour along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay at sunset to combine gorgeous visuals with epic dolphin experiences. Little or no experience is necessary to use our sturdy sit-on-top kayaks to explore the coastal waters of Virginia Beach and get closer to wild dolphins than you have ever been before. Guides will help you launch and navigate along the coast for 2-hrs while you relax and enjoy a magnificent view of the sun setting over the Bay.

What To Expect

First Landing State Park

Meet your guides on the beach at the Main Entrance to First Landing State Park ready for one of Virginia Beach's most unique experiences. After a short briefing on safety and kayak operation, your guides will help launch you and your kayak into the Chesapeake Bay where you will enjoy the thrill of kayaking with Atlantic Bottle nose Dolphins off the Shoreline of Virginia Beach while also witnessing a magnificent sunset.

Cape Henry Lighthouse

Since 1996, We have been offering guided kayak dolphin watching trips to see these amazing creatures during their summer migration off the coast of Virginia. The Sunset Tour combines dolphin watching with a sightseeing tour of landmarks such as The Cape Henry Lighthouses and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. On our Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tour you will likely see dolphins and numerous birds as we paddle along historic Cape Henry in Virginia Beach. Along the way you will also see local landmarks such as the Cape Henry Lighthouses and Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel get lit up by the evening sun as it sinks beyond the horizon of the Bay.

Our guide, Ryder, contributed greatly to our experience by providing us with interesting information on the area. He kept watch and finally spotted a pod of dolphins for us and took pictures for us. It was thrilling and so very peaceful to be out on the Chesapeake Bay in a kayak. And not to forget to mention the variety of birds that soared and danced and performed in the sky for and all around us. We will always remember and be grateful to Chesapeake Outdoors for providing us this memorable experience - one we will be reflecting back on for years... THANK YOU, RYDER!

This was my first time kayaking in the ocean, so I was super nervous! But our tour guide, Brantley, was very knowledgeable and helpful! It was easy to tell he was passionate about the wildlife around us, and it made the tour even more special. We were able to see several dolphins in our time on the water- and even got to see a baby, though it was early in the season! Very cool experience- would definitely recommend! ☺️

Tour guides Chet and Taylor were fantastic! Although the dolphins did not make an appearance, the atmosphere was relaxing and we did see a fish jumping out of the water! Very fun excursion and we will do it again!
