What To Expect

Sonoran Desert National Monument

During your hour-long flight over the famous Sonoran Desert, you will have a 360-degree view no matter where you stand in the basket. The pilot will be your tour guide in the sky, explaining what you are looking at, how far you are going and how high you are ascending. Upon landing, you will be greeted with a celebratory toast (a tradition dating back to the 1800's) and each passenger will receive a commemorative flight certificate. Once the balloon is packed up and all passengers are ready to go, the pilot and crew will bring you back to the check-in point where you can purchase souvenirs to commemorate your aeronautical adventure. Upon meeting at the check-in office, your pilots and crew will transport you to the launch site location, where you will have the option to become hands-on and help the crew or take in the view as the gentle giant comes to life. Before loading into the basket, the pilot will conduct a safety briefing, so make sure to listen carefully! Then you are up, up and away into the beautiful Arizona sky.

Living in the valley for many years, I have loved watching the balloons flying overhead. Once one even landed in the culdesac by my house. I have to admit to suffering balloon envy, while looking up at the lucky people waving down from the balloon's basket. I wasn't really sure what to expect from our sunrise flight, but my curious expectations were exceeded anyway. Once I got over the shock of being awake and on the road, in what seemed, to my sleepy head, like the middle of the night, I quite enjoyed the sensation of finding extra hours in the day. And this early bird was indeed rewarded with a very exciting adventure and a breathtaking sunrise. The flight itself was quite calm without any sense of motion sickness. Indeed, it was often hard to tell if we were moving at all. Silently sailing above the desert, I looked down on the ground bound, who were looking up, wishing they were me.

Went on a sunset balloon ride and so glad we chose Rainbow Ryders. Professional, clean, and well run from start to finish. Check-in was a breeze from their location by the Deer Valley airport. A quick van ride out to the launch site and 70 minutes of flight. Champagne at the end and snacks. Brooke is a great pilot and a nice guy. Really appreciated at the end, no big push to buy photos, etc.. like other places. Highly recommend!!

Magical experience that I will never forget! highly recommended! I booked my ride with Rainbow Riders who were professional and friendly and even though I was a solo rider I did not feel alone as I made friends with the other riders. At the end of the ride we celebrated with mimosa's made by the crew.
