What To Expect

Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park

Scenic Stop 1- West & East Mitten View Scenic Stop 2- John Ford's Point & Three Sister's Monument Scenic Stop 3- Navajo Hogan Visit & Navajo rug weaving demonstration. Scenic Stop 4- Moccasin Arch, Big Hogan Arch & Live Performance Scenic Stop 5- Sun's Eye & Anasazi Petroglyphs/Ruins Scenic Stop 6- Totem Pole Monument Scenic Stop 7- North Window or Artist's Point Their will be a minimum of 5-10 minutes at each scenic stop to explore and take photos.

The sunset tour included the 17 mile loop and an additional 11 miles into restricted areas and private lands. Our guide Marjory was an excellent driver, photographer and cultural expert who provided superb commentary that brought the scenery to life. It was an honor to meet Aunty B. and her nephew Travis in a traditional hogan (hut made of wood, mud, clay) where she demonstrated the art of weaving. The short time listening to her describe the process and showing us the results was a high point of the tour. Thank you Aunty B. and Travis for permitting us to spend time with you. Marjory continued the driving tour and provided guidance on how to take the best photos which made all the difference in the stunning results. The tour from start to finish took us to all the right spots for viewing and learning the traditions of the Diné (Navjo) people. Thank you for the privilege of visiting Monument Valley.

This tribal tour is the one best thing to do when at Monument Valley. Sandrea (ask for her) guided us well with many personal stories and interesting facts as she drove around the park. Priscilla showed us some Navaho skills, shared stories and was such a funny and nice person, none of our tour group wanted to leave the hogan. Make time for this Tribal Sunset Tour to see this indescribable place and meet these two great people.
