Surfing - Group Lesson - Waikiki, Oahu

Overview

Learn to surf on this 2-hour group lesson on Oahu. Join a group of students and discover how to ride the waves like some of the Island's most famous celebrities with the help of a certified, professional instructor. We have small student to instructor ratio of 1 instructor for every 3-4 students. Waikiki Surf Lesson starts a 10 minute safety slide show inside our surf shop, followed by heading to the beach and practicing on the sand for another 10 minutes. In our 20 year experience, we know that surfing is muscle memory, so when first timers master their surf stance then they tend to get up on their very first wave.

Overall a decent experience - especially with the check in and orientation. However, our instructor made the actual surfing experience stressful. He would give us unclear instructions and yell / chastise us when we didn't follow them because... well... we had never surfed before and we couldn't understand his instructions. We spent the next two hours stressed about pissing him off and ultimately did not learn much about surfing. I don't have anything against this surfing school, but I think for someone who claims they have been surfing for a long time, they could have run the class in a more approachable, welcoming way. I might be willing to do another lesson but with a different instructor.

This was the BEST experience. We did a semi-private lesson so it was my daughter and I with the instructor. Conor was AWESOME! He coached us through each wave and was very personable. We were able to stand up every-time (maybe not stay up) 😂. The bulk of our lesson was in the water. This is a must do on your vacation.

Jimmy is a very Professional surf instructor and he made it way to easy for me to learn surfing in a very enjoyable way!!! Would recommend it to find him and get him as an instructor !! Mahalo Hawaii!!!!
