Little Italy
"The Amici (Friend) House is a historic house in San Diego’s Little Italy—originally a single-family residence by the Giacalone family and later a residential rental property. Antonio Giacalone and his wife, Josephine were a part of the Italian fishing community in Little Italy and arrived in San Diego in 1916. Mr. Giacalone was considered one of the best fishermen during the 1920s and 1930s. The Giacalone family’s home was originally located on W. Date, between Columbia and India. In 2014, when the Piazza della Famiglia broke ground, the Little Italy Association partnered with HG Fenton to move the house to Amici Park on W. Date and Union Streets and preserve the historic home."

Little Italy
Little Italy is a chic, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood, packed with trendy cocktail bars, brewpubs and restaurants with bustling patios. Upscale clothing boutiques, indie music venues and quaint piazzas dot the area, while the weekly Little Italy Mercato Farmers’ Market draws crowds to its mix of produce, gourmet food and craft stalls. The green lawns of Waterfront Park have fountains, and offer views of the bay.

I cannot count the number of food tours we've been on across the US and in Europe, as well. "Taste of Italy" gets our vote for the best ever. Whatever you do, don't overdo it with the first food sample-- you haven't even begun! We sampled two entrees at the first restaurant in addition to a huge portion of focaccia and a salad. Then two more entrees at the second restaurant, along with a salad. You're gonna be stuffed like a stuffed eggplant, my friends! And every bit of it was delicious. By the time we got to dessert, our group was rolling down the sidewalk. And the guide? Anthony was fabulous! He's an "Honest-to-Dio-Italian-Speaking New York Italian: full of energy, humor, and information.
