Little Italy
"The Amici (Friend) House is a historic house in San Diego’s Little Italy—originally a single-family residence by the Giacalone family and later a residential rental property. Antonio Giacalone and his wife, Josephine were a part of the Italian fishing community in Little Italy and arrived in San Diego in 1916. Mr. Giacalone was considered one of the best fishermen during the 1920s and 1930s. The Giacalone family’s home was originally located on W. Date, between Columbia and India. In 2014, when the Piazza della Famiglia broke ground, the Little Italy Association partnered with HG Fenton to move the house to Amici Park on W. Date and Union Streets and preserve the historic home."

Little Italy
Little Italy is a chic, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood, packed with trendy cocktail bars, brewpubs and restaurants with bustling patios. Upscale clothing boutiques, indie music venues and quaint piazzas dot the area, while the weekly Little Italy Mercato Farmers’ Market draws crowds to its mix of produce, gourmet food and craft stalls. The green lawns of Waterfront Park have fountains, and offer views of the bay.

The food at the two restaurants was delicious, the overall experience was average. There was no flow to the tour compared to tours we have experienced in other cities. Although we enjoyed the stories and history, it needed to be mixed into the walk between stops opposed to eating and then a long history lesson. We walked in the same circle three times which made the tour seem repetitive. We feel additional restaurants and their specialties should be showcased within the tour to encompass the community.

Anthony was fantastic and personable. He knew the history of Little Italy, how to speak Italian, info about the food, and the chefs. I was very impressed and had loads of fun. The food was delicious. The stories were great. And Anthony made sure everyone was fine and enjoying their time. 10 out of 10 for me.

This was such a fun tour i'll definitely be doing another food tour soon! Anthony had great energy and was very knowledgeable and animated and fun to listen to. Each stop wasnt too far away from the last so its a very comfortably walkable distance. The food was DELICIOUS. Im a picky eater and I was pleasantly surprised by everything. There is plenty of food, everyone got pretty full. By the end our group didnt want to disband
