Your 2-hour tour starts when you meet your guide and small group of no more than 15 people at the entrance to the Met. The small group size ensures that you can ask all the questions you want and never miss a word of what your guide is saying. After a brief intro, it’s off to find some of the most bizarre and quirky pieces hidden within the enormous collection. A hippo with a limp? Check. A wardrobe malfunction from ancient Egypt? Yup. The Met is fully wheelchair accessible. However, if you cannot climb the stairs of the central entrance to reach the meeting point, there is a ground level entrance one block south, near the intersection of 81st street and 5th avenue. Tell the desk you need to use the elevator to meet a group in the main lobby (at the pharaoh statue), which will then secure your entrance ticket. They will provide you with a temporary pass and help direct you upstairs.
The Temple of Dendur is occasionally rented out for private events with no advance notice provided. While usually this occurs in the evening times, closures may impact this tour. In such cases, other works from the Egyptian collection will be substituted. Even more rarely, the Met may rent out select rooms for private events in which the same rule of substitution applies.
Walks complies with all local government regulations. You may need to wear a mask or provide proof of vaccination to enter certain venues. Please refer to New York government guidelines for the most up to date information.

We almost made a huge mistake by NOT going to the MET ~ my older niece had been there a year before and said that we really had to go so I chose to do this tour. THIS TOUR IS FANTASTIC!!! We learned so much about things within the museum that we never would have known about. Katie was the BEST tour guide ever ~ she is so personable and has so much knowledge of all sorts of things about the MET. My two nieces were absolutely hanging on her every word (and one doesn't like anything!!) given the opportunity I would do this tour with her again, I'm sure there was information I missed the first time around!!! Great for any age ~ seriously ~ learned some fascinating information!!! It was great! Katie ~ thank you so much ~ our chance encounter with you may have changed the lives of two young girls, one that was struggling with the direction of her life!!! You are an inspiration!!!

Katie is amazing. This tour was so insightful but also very much fun. The facts that katie tells you, are so fascinating, that you go back with so much knowledge to bestow upon your friends and family. She also customises the tour to your liking, so if there is a specific movement in art that you're interested in, she will make sure to take you to that section in the MET. She had quizzes along the way that just took the tour to the next level. I highly recommend this tour, so much more fun then the ordinary traditional tours. Katie is also an awesome tour guide.
