Departing from Kona International Airport, we head straight to Kilauea by way of the saddle running between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, Hawaii’s tallest mountains.

What To Expect

Kilauea

Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on earth and has been continuously erupting since 1974. Here we will explore the East Rift Zone of Kilauea, including Kilauea Crater, Pu’u O’o Vent and it’s lava flows that are currently entering the Pacific Ocean. The tour will then fly north up the windward side of the island passing Hilo town, the wettest town on earth and the heavenly Hamakua Coast. Then we will whisk you up north to explore the seven windward valleys of Kohala. First stop is the windward side of the Kohala Mountains where we will fly the coastline of Waipio Valley and then move westward to Waimanu Valley. Waimanu can experience annual rainfall of up to 200 inches, fueling 1500+ ft waterfalls, some of the tallest in all of Hawaii.

WOW WOW WOW this experience was absolutely amazing. We learnt so much from all the knowledge the entire staff shared. Totally recommend this to any tourist wanting to see the island from an amazing view. Definitely try & get this tour completed before you book any other tours, you get to see & hear about so much of the island.

Our family of three took an island tour in a R44. It was a wonderful experience. Because the environment was private and intimate, with only us and the pilot. Our pilot Ben was fantastic. He provided a rich history and nature lesson, over the volcanoes, the coast, and the waterfalls, while keeping us all feeling safe and secure. Helen provides wonderful Hawaiian hospitality, she helped me reserve the flight before we arrived. - Definitely do that as soon as you can.- She welcomed our family and gave us a great introduction to what to expect and how to make the most out of our experience. King Zoo Alumni! Helen made a huge impact on our trip to Hawaii. She is so incredibly helpful. Ben is a fantastic pilot! He has extensive experience in helicopters. He flew incredibly safely.
