Mendenhall Glacier
Our knowledgeable guide will narrate on the drive to the Mendenhall glacier. You’ll hear stories of Historic Downtown Juneau and the mining days. Learn of our black bears whales and bald eagles. The blue bus glacier express runs every 30 minutes most days from the Mount Roberts tramway parking lot to the glacier. Some days it is every hour. Please check the last return with your driver. While at the glacier be sure to visit the glacier visitor Center building and Gift Shop. See the film about the glaciers and how they are formed. The national forest service imposes a five dollar fee for entry into the visitor center but that fee is included in the cost of your tour. Don’t miss nugget falls. One of the most fabulous sites of nature near Juneau. When returning to downtown remember “The Blue Bus” picks up right where It dropped you off at and that is at the “Bear stop“

The Blue Bus was the least expensive way we found to get to Mendenhall Glacier, and it was well worth the trip. The view at the glacier and the waterfall are beautiful. The short walk through the forest was lovely and refreshing after being on a cruise ship for a few days. Our driver was friendly and interesting.

Mike was an informative bus driver taking us out to the glacier however the woman bus driver that picked us up shouldn't be in the tour business. We were at the visitor centre at the glacier and got a a mumbled announcement about the Blue Bus and if Mike's your driver , so not knowing what was happening we rushed to the parking lot and flagged down the Blue Bus that was just leaving. The woman driver gave us a sour look and later proceeded with a dull, monotonous, uninspired narration on the way back about whatever she thought would impress us...NOT. Also, I don't understand why they charge so much for just a ride on a bus back and forth. Oh by the way, the glacier and waterfalls were wonderful! Lots of trails too.

Both drivers were pleasant and both were very interesting. I would recommend using Viator and the Blue Bus!
