Ok folks I have a sleeper for you. Took my daughter to see, "The Magic Duel" tonight as part of her Christmas gifts. This was absoluetly the BEST show per cost I've attended in the last 5 years or so. Absolutely blown away by Mark Phillips and Ryan Phillips comedic genius combined with their underhanded, overhanded, slight of hand magic stylings. These two could stand alone on their one liners, jokes, and snippity, snarkey humor however the magic you witness has a separate if not even stronger punch of its own. Yes, the audience was repeatedly floored and no participants suffered in any way at all. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU SEE THIS FOR YOURSELF!! Located in the basement of the picturesque Mayflower Hotel, Washington DC. Don't say I never hooked you up.................. Dr Hook

My girlfriend surprised me with a surprise date and said we were going to “The Magic Duel”. I admit, I was very skeptical. We arrived to the Mayflower Hotel and were told to go to the basement - I became extremely skeptical at this point. We arrived to the ballroom and were greeted by EXTREMELY friendly/courteous/helpful Magic Duel staff. I observed there to be only a handful of seats in the ballroom - this kept the performance intimate, and everyone had a perfect view! The magicians were also comedians and there was comedy for everyone! The magic was FLAWLESS! I have never seen this high caliber of magic performed. How this show isn’t headlining in Vegas is mind boggling - but that is to DC’s advantage! I’m already in the process of flying friends/family to DC to specifically see this performance. Step aside Copperfield, Blaine, Lim, Angel, Penn & Teller...and every other notable magician - there is a new form of magic reshaping the world of magic. I’m still in awe of the performance and absolutely mind boggled by the tricks. Flawless!!!!!! I couldn’t believe the tickets were $75/$50. This was easily a $175 per ticket performance! The last point that earned major points with me, is the humility of the magicians - at the end of the show they posed for photos, spoke with all the guests, and were extremely down to earth. This will not disappoint in the least! The Magic Duel will blow your expectations out of the water!

Thank you for the wonderful review. I'm especially grateful that you singled out our staff for their fantastic attitude and hard work. We sell tickets through a complex network of places - by necessity, that's just how things work these days - and each one of them is different. Our staff does as much juggling before the show as we do magic in it! They were thrilled to have made a difference in your experience and we look forward to having you as our guest again in the near future.

I like trying new things. Especially when I visit new places. On a Saturday while in DC my wife and I booked tickets to see the dual.. it was fun! The entertainment kept us engaged from start to finish and had us laughing while we were sitting in amazement. The biggest challenge - it's in a hotel banquet room. They provided pitchers of water but there was no drink service down there (as advertised) so after having a drink or two beforehand but then not continuing to drink during the show we were a bit burnt out. That's not to say we're soured on the experience - we still tell friends about it and encourage anyone looking for a fun night to check it out. But what makes a magic dual more fun? more alcohol!

LOL - thanks for the great review! We considered putting a bar in the showroom but it is simply cost-prohibitive. We literally would have to raise the ticket price $10 and people would still have to pay for their drinks. It is not a perfect solution but audience members CAN bring drinks from the lobby bar Edgar into the show beforehand and get more during intermission. Some folks have even bought bottles of wine at Edgar and brought them into the show! Your review helps future audiences be more prepared! Thanks again.
