The Magic Duel, DC's #1 Comedy Show

Overview
Two skilled magicians battle for the title of DC's Best, performing seriously funny magic with audience involvement from start to finish. Who will win? That's just one of many surprises, and you, the audience, will decide.  The Magic Duel has earned multiple TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence and a 5-star rating on Yelp.

An upscale alternative to the traditional comedy club, The Magic Duel is filled with laughs and snarky humor but without the "raunchiness" of most comedy clubs - and it is in a family friendly venue so you can bring the whole family for a spectacular evening out. Comedy doesn't have to smell like spilled beer and stale chicken nuggets!

Great time! Family friendly show that will amaze adults and children alike. Lots of laughs and magic tricks. Also got a 25% off of food at the hotel that hosts the show. Food was fantastic.

Thanks very much! We are now at both The Delegate in the Courtyard Marriott Convention Center, and Pinstripes in Georgetown.

The Magic Duel was such a great night out for the whole family. We’d seen the enchanting version of Shakespeare’s Tempest at the Round House theater last year – with magic tricks provided by Ryan Phillips, one half of the magicians duo. I had been thinking about taking the family (including our teenage kids) to see their show for a while, and last night we finally did it. The venue was in a downtown hotel, in a room good for an audience of about 40, with a tiny stage in front. It was the perfect size to create a great atmosphere (and you can bring drinks inside from the bar). The show is very interactive, dazzling, very funny, and engaging in every sense. By the end of the night most audience members have been involved in at least one magic trick one way or the other. (But if you don’t want to go up to the stage that’s fine too – the magicians are very understanding). All the tricks are amazing, both magicians are consummate showmen. The whole show is extremely entertaining, with a good dose of stand-up comedy thrown in. The magicians joke around with the audience and respond to calls. The best part: 90 mins is the perfect length for the show. We all loved it, perfect entertainment. All thumbs up.

It was such a small crowd (like only 12) that everyone in audience was part of the show. If you like corny canned comedy and sleight of hand magic that you are so close to the stage you think you will catch them (but you won’t) - then you will like this. The more people the more energy and applause that would have added to the performers show. They really did demonstrate the show must go on despite the lack luster crowd. It was entertaining enough and a few of the tricks were easy to figure out how it happened but others I still can’t figure out. They need much clearer signage for where exactly to find them and the front person of the Delegate should immediately have been able to show us but had to go ask and then said “it’s back here” but we were up and down the elevator and stairs several times “back there” but it is like hidden in the back and needs a much clearer come this way signs. The hotel had the wrong room on the sign. They also give you a coupon for 25% to eat there after but we already had other plans. Maybe the 8pm show has more people then the 5pm but that was like second hand embarrassment for lack of crowd and overall show experience.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I appreciate your understanding that "the show must go on," regardless of many challenges. The Delegate told us about the 25% off coupon the day before the show, so we were not able to notify people beforehand. In the future, they will know about it, and know to come early to use it prior to the show. As we simply rent the showroom from The Delegate, we have very limited influence on their employees or the hotel personnel and their choice of signage for the venue. I'm sorry you felt like you got the runaround.
