The Old Taylor Tour

Overview
This tour is the perfect way to travel the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. You will participate in a river tour, passing through one of the locks that has transported millions of gallons of bourbon through it in our history. You will also see the distillery from an angle many do not get to see; from the river!

After leaving the river, we will travel back to the distillery, where you will go on the "Old Taylor Tour". Take a walk through bourbon history alongside E.H. Taylor Jr., the man who revolutionized the industry. From the Old Taylor House; to the OFC Building and OFC Fermenter #7, nicknamed “Old Taylor”; and finally to Warehouse C, you will see both the remnants and still-standing structures of what Taylor built, learn about his desire for perfection and purity in the bourbon making processes, and how he helped craft the industry as it is today.

Tour route includes stairs and there is a lot of walking involved. Comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended.

Buffalo Trace Distillery
you will visit the "Bourbon Pompeii", the oldest known part of the distillery grounds which was just recently rediscovered while doing some construction work. This part of the distillery has been excavated and turned into an archeological site providing a glimpse into bourbon history. This tour is offered through Buffalo Trace as a Special Tour, called the "EH Taylor Tour", requiring reservations, and is EXTREMELY difficult to find availability. But WE HAVE IT for you! AS part of this tour, you will take part in a tasting of Buffalo Trace's bourbons and vodka's at the "normally for the distinguished guests of the distillery" only building known as the EH Taylor House. This, like the tour, is almost impossible to get in to. But again, WE HAVE IT! Also, you will get to see this part of the distillery from all sides, including the river front, as we include a special Kentucky River Lock Through which puts you right behind the distillery where the "Bourbon Pompeii" is located!

Everything was great and first class. Knowledge of the river and history of that area was unmatched. We look forward to doing it again

To be honest I was shut out of getting tickets to Buffalo Trace tour on Monday. So did some searching and found this tour which included tickets to the Taylor historical tour at buffalo trace. Jumped right on this and glad I did. The boat trip up the river was enjoyable and very interesting. Our captain Nathan is truly a historian and provided a history of Kentucky, Frankfort, the river, and bourbon including The origins of Buffalo Trace. Well worth the time and the Taylor tour was just as good. I would recommend going to Angel Envy to see how it’s made, Stitzler and wells to see how stored and take the Taylor history tour to get the history of bourbon and this distillery.

Tour starts and ends at Buffalo Trace. Capt. Allison picked us up and drives down the road to the boat tour. Capt. Nathan provides and the history and commentary along the river. He keeps everything interesting and fun. Then the group is returned to Buffalo trace for a our own group tour. Very fun day, a little bourbon never hurts!
