We booked a private tour with Chadd due to Covid and we were very pleased. Due to unforeseen issues, Chadd's van was out of commission so we followed Chadd in our own vehicle for the day. Not the first choice but conditions changed and we had to adapt; Chadd had communicated with us up front concerning it but in no way were we going to back out! We started out early in the morning and saw a small heard of elk right on the golf course near the Estes Park visitor center. We first ventured up to see some water falls and other scenic areas in an attempt to see some varied wildlife. The wildlife wasn't cooperating very much but we did see a moose from a distance; no bighorn sheep were present all day. We then ventured up the Old Fall River Road that was built back in the 1920's and was a dirt road. While it is passable in a car, I would only feel comfortable going in a four wheel drive SUV or truck. It was an experience to drive on such a road with so much beautiful scenery and with all the tight curves and challenging portions of the road. A couple hours later, we exited the road at the summit visitors center. A beautiful drive yet a bit challenging, from my perspective. From there we drove to Grand Lake and had some lunch; it is a tourist town for sure but a very quaint town nestled in the mountains with the beautiful lake. We then started the trek back and made various stops as Chadd explained the wildlife and the history of the area. We ended the tour in the Bear Lake area and just as we were to end the tour and exit the park, we got the highlight of the day....a large elk heard relaxing next to the road. It was a great photo opportunity and the male elk was a 7 pointer.....14 points in all. He was a big boy but beautiful! It made our day! We highly recommend Chadd as a tour guide and is worth every penny. We were taken to every part of the park; if we had gone on our own I know we probably would not have gone by ourselves up the Old Fall River Road! he spent the whole day with us as we ended the tour around 5:30pm. Give him a try and you will be happy you did.

Thank you so much for such an in-depth review! I am thankful you were so understanding of my situation with the vehicle and I am working on avenues to not have that same issue come up in the future. You did great going up and over Old Fall River Road and I agree, I think the views are worth the effort for sure. I am glad you enjoyed Grand Lake, definitely my favorite town in Colorado. We did great on seeing wildlife, and yes that big bull at the end was surely the highlight. Thank you for recommending me, and more importantly, thank you for taking a tour with me! I hope to see you again in the future! Be safe and take care.

So we came at an unfortunate time where Chad had his van out of service and had to have us drive ourselves Around the park. I understand that these kind of things happen, but this circumstance was told to us the day of with no accommodations. The list of animals should be redone, we did not see a few of the animals on the list. We were hoping to see a bear which Chad has never seen in the park. There also has been no sightings of sheep in the park for 3 weeks. This is something we would like to know before spending a lot of money on a tour such as this one. Overall I would recommend Chad as a tour guide of the park

Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate you recommending me. Do to the circumstances, I did call you 4 days prior to the tour on Monday the 8th, and I offered your family a full refund. You stated you were okay with driving and wanted to proceed with the tour. Also I did provide you with a discount. I am sorry you were not satisfied with the wildlife we saw. However, as I tell all my clients, the animals are truly wild, and there can be no guaranteeā€™s to what we see in the park.

Great communication right from the start! Chadd returned calls promptly and was also very accommodating. He met us at Grand Lake since we were staying at Devilā€™s Thumb Ranch and it would have been a two hour drive for us to meet at his usual departure spot of Estes Park. With two kids, that saved us! He also kept us informed on the Highway 70 closure from the mudslide and gave us an alternate route to follow since we were traveling from Moab and unfamiliar with Colorado roads. Simultaneously he cautioned us of the impacts of the CA wildfires which brought a ton of smoke to the area. He gave us an option to cancel the tour because visibility was low. But we were still very interested in visiting RMNP with Chadd the wildlife expert. It was very kind of him to put our interests first. We saw a ton of animals up close! Moose, elk, pika, assorted squirrels, beautiful birds, marmots, etc. He knew the routes and approximate patterns these animals emerged in certain areas. From paved roads to off-roads dirt paths, I felt like we didnā€™t leave any stone unturned. We were on a full day tour for over twelve hours! He was always patient in waiting for the animals to get into a good photo opportunity. Chadd is professional and courteous. I would highly recommend his customized tours!

I am glad to know you were appreciative of my help with getting you the best experience possible. We definitely had a great trip and the wildlife abundance was amazing! I do think with the amount of time we spent out there, we surly did not leave a single stone unturned! I hope you choose me on your next visit out, and don't forget there is a 25% discount for returning guests. Thank you again for the great review.
