Museum of Us
Specializing in cultural anthropology, the Museum of Us explores the human experience from multicultural perspectives to spark dialogue, self-reflection, and human connections. During your visit, you’ll explore a variety of unique, interactive exhibits that cover a vast range of human history and culture.
5
Botanical Building and Lily Pond
The Botanical Building with the Lily Pond and Lagoon in the foreground is one of the most photographed scenes in Balboa Park. The Lily Pond, built as a reflecting pool for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition features annual plantings of water lilies and lotus. The plantings inside of the Botanical Building include orchid displays, cycads and palms, a scratch-and-sniff garden, and seasonal displays.

The San Diego Natural History Museum (The Nat). From rattlesnakes and flesh-eating beetles, to dinosaurs and fossils, to historic archives and art, there’s something for every type of nature nerd here at the home of one the oldest biological research centers in the region. Visitors will be impressed by the unique, interactive exhibitions that span across five floors. The museum features a giant-screen theater with daily showings, as well as rotating exhibitions that bring nature to life.

My adult daughter and I spent 5 days in San Diego. We wanted to explore lots of aspects of the city. We did a private tour of Balboa Park with Jeff. He was timely, friendly, helpful and oh, so knowledgeable! On our drive from our hotel to the park, Jeff shared all sorts of info with us. The park is AMAZING! There are so many museums, historic buildings, gardens, shopping, restaurants and just beautiful spots to observe. Jeff was really terrific in terms of getting us around the park and explaining about buildings and locations in the park, and just generally sharing info. When the tour was completed, we decided we wanted to stay in the park, so Jeff helped us figure out what we'd do and how to get around on foot. We had a fabulous day at Balboa Park thanks to Jeff and we highly recommend the tour.

Mari was a great tour guide! She was hilarious and a human encyclopedia of San Diego. She answered all our questions and made our tour very enjoyable. Highly recommend Mari and the private Balboa Park Segway!

We booked a private tour for 3 people (two over 60!) and we had a fantastic experience! Jeff was kind, hilarious, and made sure we felt safe every step of the way. We're naturally an accident-prone group and poor Jeff had to deal with a number of self-inflicted "unplanned dismounts", BUT we had the time of our life and we'd do it again in a heartbeat. Balboa park was gorgeous, the pictures we got were great (and hilarious), and the whole experience enhanced our weekend get-away to San Diego.
