Tour operates in most weather conditions. Pay attention to the forecast as the weather in Boston can shift even a day or two out. Please dress appropriately.
Not wheelchair accessible. We will be covering a significant amount of ground and those with injuries or significant mobility limitations will likely find it difficult to complete.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. There is no hard age restriction but this is not a "kids" version of events. The narrative structure helps keep them engaged but the younger they are the more difficult it is to stay involved for the duration. However, every child is different and parents know their own best.
We will be outside in the open air for the duration.

What To Expect

The Revolutionary Story Tour

City Hall Plaza is a pedestrian only plaza very centrally located. We meet between the Staples Connect and City Hall (The big angular concrete building) I will be standing directly in front of a large statue of a basketball player.

King's Chapel Burying Ground

Learn about the incredibly unique people who first settled Massachusetts and how they created the cultural bedrock the Revolution was built on. The Puritans are much more important (and weird) than you can imagine!

Granary Burying Ground

The Sons of Liberty! We'll visit the tombs of Paul Revere, John Hancock, and Sam Adams. They'll be with us all day!

Old City Hall

The most beautiful architecture in the city is the background of a discussion about about the role of Boston as the Athens of America, the historic obstacles to and inherent challenges of democracy, and the incomparable Benjamin Franklin.

Old State House

We finish up along at Christopher Columbus Park. If you’re looking to book a guided tour of the Freedom Trail, I would highly recommend you book with Michael of The Revolutionary Story Tour! He is knowledgeable and passionate about history and shared his enthusiasm in a way our entire family could understand and enjoy. We have young children who would usually complain about the being tired and cold. However, Michael kept their interest throughout the entire tour! You’ll obviously learn a lot about the American Revolution but you’ll also learn a lot about the City of Boston.

Be ready to walk and walk FAST but Mike doesn't disappoint! He leads you all over Boston and the Freedom Trail telling the Revolutionary Story using props, maps, humor, and many years of personal research. He points out all the historical sites and tells their background plus reveals info that you wouldn't normally know. His tour is a good 3.5 hrs with one 15 minute bathroom break. After he's walked your legs off he does leave you in the North District where there is LOTS of good eats. I really liked his tour because you come away with a good understanding of all the main events that led up to the Revolutionary War and all the significant info needed to understand its importance and application for today. His enthusiasm and loud voice make him perfect for what he's doing. *Don't try to take pictures because you'll miss something he's saying. Just go back later to get them. He talks while walking backwards leading the group and it's all important to the tour. *Older folks and smaller kids might have a hard time with the speed and length of this tour.

Great tour. My teenagers loved his stories and said his tour was their favorite. The weather was cold and windy, but we keep warm because we were so interested.
