Overview
This tour on the list will set you on the right path of experiencing the local culture of Tijuana it's multicultural scene and it's people. In this tour you will explore the Tijuana in a few hours as a local. Tijuana is located 30 min. from Downtown San Diego, California; has 2.3 million people of which 75%, approximately, are foreigners. But no one is excluded in Tijuana! Actually Tijuana is made of outsiders; and since probation Tijuana has been living and growing thanks to tourism. Awesome food and craft beer experience unlike any other city in Mexico. This new interest in food and craft beer has given Tijuana a new growth in culture, all along the Baja. Tijuana has being the path for many people looking to have the american dream, by crossing legally or illegally thru the USA Border. This leaves people behind what makes them to either settle or go back home. Most of them stay and build there life here.

I am a San Diego local, but have avoided Tijuana since 9/11 due to border waits and issues. I finally decided I wanted to go see TJ again! I was not disappointed! We met our tour guide right in front of McDonalds on the US side (very much on time). With a lovely young Irish couple and guide, Sarah, we walked across the border. Very easy. She got us local transport to get us quickly into the TJ center. We saw the Arch, the Church and headed to the Cultural Museum which was very nice. Then we headed off to alley way shopping that only a local would know. Lunch (included) was delightful at a family owned casual quesadilla stand who even offered vegan options. We were impressed! We finished the day with craft beer (included) and a tequila tasting (not included in the pricing). She hailed transportation back to the border area (included) and directed us to the correct paths to cross. It was a delightful day - even for San Diegan!!!

We enjoyed the afternoon immensely. Carlos was great company and gave us a real insight into Tijuana and Mexican life in general. We thought the city was really lively and colourful and enjoyed exploring the markets. The tacos were delicious and a good end to the trip.

Fernando was our tour guide and safely guided us from our pickup point right at the Mexican border throughout the rest of the afternoon, and then back to the border (on the Mexican side, literally right next to the US customs site). We were a group of three (my boyfriend, my mom, and myself), and there were six other people also on the tour with us, including a child <10yrs old. We had wanted to visit Tijuana on a previous trip to San Diego but felt too unsafe doing so ourselves as none of us speak Spanish; this tour provided a perfect way to safely become acquainted with a small portion of the city. We started at the local culture and art museum which was a very good way to become acquainted with his style and to feel safe in a big city. Fernando accommodated our request to visit a local grocery store towards the end of the trip, which I really appreciated!
