The hostess for the night, Cousin Cee Cee, jokingly asked if anyone attending was there to “celebrate a divorce.” The reality is, that in fact I WAS. Not only was the evening the 1 year anniversary of my “freedom”, but this was the only luau I could find that did not require a 2 person minimum to attend. This is one of the many struggles that solo travelers often face, because we are often a rare (but incredibly strong) breed! Because of this, I’ll be sharing this particular experience with my Female Solo Travelers FB group. The show was incredible, the setting was spectacular, and the food amazing. So, when I return (kids in tow 😢…lol) for my son’s graduation trip, because he picked Hawaii, we will definitely plan an evening specifically for the Toa Luau.

This was a fun event with great people and food. The activities were fun and the program was entertaining and beautiful. This was my first luau and don’t have anything to compare it to, but I genuinely loved the history, stories and the educational descriptions of the dances and demonstrations. It was a full night of fun and an excellent value for your money. I highly recommend this luau, you won’t be disappointed.

It’s hard to find activities that make a family of 6 happy. But this was it. We got here about 2:00 so we could “hike” (walk) to the waterfall, it’s a super easy paved path, once there everyone got life jackets and you are allowed into the water, which was FREEZING, but so much fun. We swam for about 30/40 min then walked back to the entrance. To get to the waterfall you walk through the botanic gardens which was pretty and we didn’t explore it all. By the time we got back To the entrance we had about 30 minutes to grab a drink and change into our luau clothes. Everything about the luau was efficient. The family was so welcoming and friendly. The food was amazing, we had seconds and thirds. The activities beforehand were fun and educational. My family truly had the best time. If you’re trying to choose a Luau choose this one, it’s only 200 people, they include the drinks (2) and you feel like family I can’t say enough amazing things. If we come back to Hawaii we would definitely revisit The Tao Luau
