This is my family's first time in Hawaii, except my husband. One of the perks going to this luau, we got admission tickets to waimea valley so before our dinner we enjoyed the little walk to the fall and the botanical garden. I think what makes this luau great and memorable is that they really made us feel welcome from the beginning and the same family served us and cooked our dinner and also performed for us. This family has so much given talent and hospitality that I highly recommend going with them. They served salad, macaroni salad, dinner roll, chicken , kalua pig, rice with furikake, coconut cake, plate of fruits with poi- the food were all delicious that we had seconds! We really enjoyed our time from the food, music, activities, and performances and my husband even said it's the best luau he's been to.

My family of four, including two young adults, chose this for our first luau after doing a lot of research. It was a really great experience all around! What I really liked about it was that we got to experience the Waimea Valley before the luau. We enjoyed visiting the waterfall and seeing all the different trees and flowers along the way. We chose a silver package and were not disappointed. The only differences that I could see was one fewer drink and a different seating level. However I felt like our seats, which were on the top level , gave us a better view to be honest. Sidenote: if you show up with that less than a party of eight you will be seated with other guests. I enjoyed chatting with the other people at our table. Before being seated you are treated to a demonstration of different food preparation techniques. People were invited to do different things such as husking a coconut and shaving a coconut down and peeling a banana. Unfortunately we didn’t eat any of this food and we ate a servers meal that was more like banquet fare. But truth be told it was actually really good! Much better than I expected! While we were eating all of the performers visited with each of the tables and asked various questions and I really felt like this was a genuine attempt to get to know who was actually coming to visit them. Then the traditional dances began. Our emcee for the evening did the requisite corny jokes but he also gave an explanation of all the various Polynesian cultures that were represented in the dances. I definitely learned a lot! I think this was a great first experience for a luau for us. I would highly recommend it.
