This was a fun family experience. We had come early to "swim" in the falls, but due to drought, the falls were closed to swimming. Yet, the grounds of Wiamea Valley were gorgeous and the walk to the falls was pleasant and enjoyable. The staff was helpful and the Luau was exciting and fun to watch. The staff took good care of us during dinner and the show was exciting and educational. The before-hand experience with coconut shelling and taro root cleaning and headband weaving was fun - even with the teenager. This was well worth the trip from across the island

What was my favorite part??? All of it! From the cultural demonstrations, dinner, dancers and drummers. I enjoyed it all as did all of my family members from age 2 to 85. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. The cultural cooking demonstration was informative and purposeful. Each activity from the husking of the coconut, opening of the coconut, grinding of the coconut, peeling of green bananas was meaningful and fun for the participants. There was some other vegetable that was peeled but I don't remember what that was. All were put on a bed of hot rocks and covered with banana leaves and some ingredients were cooked in coconut milk with onions and fish. And that was the first hour. Next came the welcome ceremony which was entertaining. And then the food was served at the table. We had kalua pork, teriyaki (I think) chicken breast, macaroni salad, a green salad with roasted macadamia nuts, rice, Hawaiian rolls, a small fruit salad and a coconut cake. Even though the food was plated portions were generous. In fact, you could opt to receive another whole meal if you so desired. And it was delicious!!! Next was the show. It was so entertaining watching the dances of various Polynesian countries. I would highly recommend this luau.

Great experience that was not only fun fo my wife and me, but also each of our three teenage daughters really enjoyed it as well. Activities early on were fun, the food was really good, and the show excellent. We were in the silver section and could see everything perfectly fine given the intimacy of the venue. Thanks for an experience our family will remember.
