During our recent trip to Boston, we took a guided walking tour of the Freedom Trail (YES...there really is a RED trail bricked into the sidewalk to follow), from Boston Common to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. Our guide and historian was the incomparable Deacon John Larkin, who bears a striking resemblance to Ben Franklin! The good Deacon John is very knowledgable and complete in his history as well as possessed of a "wicked good" (New England term!) sense of humah! To start your walk on the Freedom Trail, too get a guided tour with Deacon John. You will be well informed, share a laugh or three, and be well prepared to finish the Trail on your own to Paul Revere's House, the Olde North Church, then across the bridge to Charleston's Bunker Hill and the USS Constitution.

Caitlin is a fantastic tour guide. She spent two hours guiding us and telling such captivating stories about the history of Boston from the arrival of the Puritans to the Revolutionary War. What a fantastic day. Thanks you, Caitlin!

Taking the historic Freedom Trail Tour within the first 24 hours on the ground in Boston helps a lot for your future adventures. Taking it with Deacon John Larkin found at the Freedom Trail Walking Tours located out of the Boston Commons is a no brainer - he's funny, he's smart and makes the 90 minute tour around Boston the best experience you can have!
