Tree Canopy Climbing on Lopez Island

Overview
Come experience the only old-growth tree climbing activity in the State of Washington and create some unforgettable memories. This is your chance to do something not even .1% of the population has done, but now you can. In small-groups climb together on 1-4 trees between 100 and 200 feet high, depending on your athletic level. Some of the trees are even rare old-growth trees. See the unique perspective above the canopy and feel what it's like to be eye level with an eagle as you climb/swing around like a monkey through the open air and catch branches, while safely harnessed by rope. Climb your way up some of the tallest trees in the world to amazing views of the upper canopy, mountains, and ocean. Connect to nature like you have never done before, beyond the trail.

During this activity you will explore the special ecology of old-growth trees and its importance in our environment and so much more.

Great experience overall. Our ferry was late arriving at Lopez Island but Leo one of the guides still picked us up. At the site we had another guide, Mia who helped all of us get geared up and provided instructions on all our equipment. Mia took us on our first Douglas fir where we could see Mt. Baker and the city of Anaconda under it. We climbed another Douglas fir which was estimated to be 400-450 years old. My teenage son loved the experience because he could finally be a “monkey” in a tall tree. Teenage daughter wasn’t thrilled with the idea at first but even she found the experience wonderful and enjoyable at the end when she was at the top of both trees.

Leo was amazing! He was knowledgeable and was very patient. We were able to climb a couple trees during our visit. We moved slower than most. But it was a ton of fun!

Many thanks to tree-climbing guide Rilen who was very personable and very safety conscious. This mother-daughter experience went above and beyond expectations. It was an experience of a lifetime, and we would absolutely do it again.
