I am not known for having an adventurous streak and normally prefer to keep my feet firmly on the ground, however, a wee bit of peer pressure had me agreeing to a day at Treeumph. What an amazing experience!
I have never done anything like this in my life before and I am in my fifties (ok, closer to 60 than 50, but please don't tell anyone). Anyway, off we went (3 of us all in the same age group). The safety briefing was excellent and I liked that there was a small course to practice on and to build confidence.
There are then 5 courses, each more difficult and higher off the ground than the one before. The obstacles were varied and challenging with regular 'rewards' in the form of zip lines. Initially I was terrified on the zip lines, but soon grew to love them.
I work out and have a good fitness level and am pretty strong, but I still surprised myself by my ability to negotiate everything the course threw at me. To be honest, I was concentrating so much on the obstacles that I was not too aware of the height of the course.
I successfully completed courses 1 to 4 and really never put a foot wrong. I tried to make the transition into course 5 but lacked the technique and upper body strength to get there. However, I still got to enjoy the final (longest and highest) zipline.
I left with a great feeling of achievement and a determination to work on my upper body strength. I would love to return and reach the summit someday.
A great day out - for all ages! Oh, don't forget to take the gloves and water options. You will regret it if you don't.
