The entire Everglades area, including Everglades National Park, is a wonderful place for to view dolphins. With over 300 species of birds throughout the year, it is the only Park that was established for its biological and ecological considerations rather than its geological features. However, most of the 1.5 million acres in the Park are flooded and essentially out of reach for the average visitor. Everglades Area Tours can you take you to areas seldom reached by others. In comfortable captain's style seating, you will be safely brought deep into Everglades National Park's 10,000 Islands for an interpretive tour with your naturalist guide. Depending on the season, you can expect to encounter manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, ospreys, herons, egrets, pelicans, rosette spoonbills, as well as, numerous species of fish and shore birds. Dan was relaxed, navigated us around storms, engaged some dolphins in “wake play”, didn’t try to skimp on the tour, attempted a search for Spoonbills, historical information was fascinating, gave us good directions to a nice lunch spot, made us all feel welcome. Celebrated my daughter’s 26 birthday. A long drive for us but most memorable 😀

We booked the tour based on the good reviews. Rather than a tour it was more like a boat ride. Captain Dan didn't say much to us most of the time. He arrived a bit late, barely said hi to us, and off we go. Zero introduction to the area or the tour. After maybe 10 mins we arrived at a small island, and he said "This is not usually part of the tour, but the captain needs to use the restroom", and off he went around to the other end of the island, leaving us there not sure what to do. The other reviews talked about how the captain was "fun", "knowledgeable", "explained a lot", we didn't get any of that. I'm sure he could be great, but maybe we just caught him on a bad day. We did find dolphins, but since we drove a lot and planned our day around this trip, we felt like we didn't quite get what we wanted - an informative tour. The whole time I was just waiting for him to say something to us, anything really. It only happened when we spoke to him / asked questions.

I am sorry that you were disappointed. Yes, a very bad day. This was not like Captain Dan at all. He fell ill during your tour and was "out-of-commission" for several days fevered and in bed. Please get a hold of me directly next time and I will find a way to make it up to you on the next tour.
