We have taken many food walking tours in Paris, Georgia & Vietnam. And the U St, Food & History Tour ranks high marks. The guide is knowledgeable, very friendly and helpful. Expect to take plenty of steps through this ironic neighborhood of historic black-own businesses, murals, and new condos. The tour began with a spicy sausage chili dog from Ben's Chili, then Ethiopian lunch, macaroni & cheese, ice cream from Made from Friends and a Cuban dessert. You will not be disappointed in the food, history and the tour.

Amazing! Book this and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. The tour began at Ben’s Chili Bowl where we enjoyed one of their world famous chili dogs (mine was vegetarian!). Following our chili dogs, we sat for a full sized Ethiopian lunch (vegetarian), walked around the corner for a bowl of macaroni and cheese (vegetarian) and ended the food portion of the tour at Colada Shop for guava pastelitos and Jubilee Ice Cream for unique flavors. Do not eat breakfast before your go! That will be your breakfast, lunch, and probably your dinner. Besides the food, the culture, history, and street art portion was eye-opening, insightful, and inspiring. Wear your walking shoes and get ready to fill up with food and knowledge!

Thanks so much for this awesome review!! I'm so glad that you enjoyed our U St tour. And yes, we have vegetarian options at each restaurant and try to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions (provided you let us know in advance). And yes we like to say that we will feed both your mind and your stomach! :)

We enjoyed our Food Tour with Stevaan very much. It was an extremely hot July day and he went out of his way to make sure we had plenty of water and was able to get our group inside some of the restaurants for our tastings. Interesting to learn the history of U street while enjoying tasty bites of Soul, Ethiopian, Cuban and locally made ice cream.
