Tour Waimea Canyon, dubbed by Mark Twain as the " Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Although Mark Twain never visited the island, he must have seen enough of it to judge the unparalleled grandeur of this famous Kauai landmark. It is truly a spectacular sight. Mount Waialeale is known as the wettest spot on earth with an average annual rainfall of approximately 450 inches. Most of the mountain rain drains into the nearby Alakai Swamp, home to several rare species of plants and birds. Wailua Falls is also known as Fantasy Island Waterfalls for their cameo appearance weekly in the TV series of the same name. The legendary Na Pali Coast, with its dramatic cliffs chiseled by time and remote beaches is spellbinding no matter how many times you see it. This is the home of the legendary Bali Hai as seen in the 20th Century Fox movie, South Pacific.

This was our second visit to the island and we promised ourselves that we would do the helicopter tour if we ever returned. It was well worth the money and we booked the first class seats which made it even more special. In reading the reviews there has been allot of mention about Pilot Steve and yes, we were blessed to have him as our pilot also. He was super experienced, kind, knowledgeable and witty but we need to add one more person and that was Shri. She was the young lady that gave us our instructions and took us out to the helicopter pad. She also was very kind, knowledgeable, and witty and needs to be recognized. So Sunshine your name befits you, you put allot of Sunshine into our lives, keep up the good work! Oh and incidentally we purchased the video and after using Adobe Premier Elements was able to put it onto a DVD and we were able to view it on our TV. They included a bonus DVD of the islands and after doing some minor editing we were able to relive our trip, both audio and video were wonderful, again we were blessed.

We signed up for a helicopter tour and hoped my wife wouldn’t experience another cancelled flight. Third time is the charm. Wayne flew us around this amazing island. He was very chill, but kept us informed and entertained. We saw sights we’d never see on our own and some seemed so close we could reach out and touch them. We were in and out of canyons, even doing 360’s so all could see. There is no better way to see this island. Only disappointment, the video camera glitched up. Not to worry, the one in my mind recorded it all and it’s on a continuous loop.

My wife and I have been on helicopter tours on all of the islands before even Kauai and have thoroughly enjoyed them as there is no other way to see all of the islands beauty. Our friends that we were with this time had not been on a helicopter tour of Kauai and what better way to see the Na Pali coast. We had never flown on Sunshine before and thought because of the high ratings we decided to give them a try. It started off good as it was nice that they picked us up at our hotel instead of us having to drive to the airport. The driver was very friendly and even informative on the ride. Next our safety overview was also good along with the ride to the airport for what we had been waiting for. We were informed that out pilot was very experienced with over 30k hours so we would be in good hands. Well they were right he was a very experienced pilot they only problem was he never interacted with any of us on the tour. We felt like we had a robot for a pilot with a very monotonic voice. He never asked anyone's name when we first started or tried to interact with us during the tour. I have never been on such a painful helicopter tour as what I had with Sunshine. I guess we should have just stuck with the helicopter tour company that we have always used in the past as we always enjoyed ourselves along with the pilot interaction and knowledge. It takes more than a highly experienced pilot it also takes a pilot that loves what they do and makes all of the people on their tour feel comfortable. We were never so disappointed on a helicopter tour before especially in Hawaii...
