Good trip. We arrived at approximately 1:45 pm and made our way towards the entrance of the building. After checking in and signing a waiver, we waited in the lobby of the building for the tour to begin. The tour began promptly and the tour guide began telling us about the history of the area and why it is called āOver-the-Rhineā. This was a walking tour, however we made multiple stops along the tour, and there were plenty of places to sit if someone got tired. After the brief introduction inside of the building, we walked outside and went across the street. The tour guide pointed out interesting artwork and prominent building features in the area. We then walked to Washington Park, and sat on several of the benches there. The tour guide told us various stories about the parkās history and the surrounding buildings. We then walked over to Saint Francis Catholic Church, where we were able to view an underground crypt. We were also able to view the inside of the church and admire the paintings and sculptures there. After viewing the church, we walked to our final destination that housed the underground tunnels. We climbed down a steep staircase, and were met by an expansive tunnel system. The tour guide then talked about what the tunnels were used for and how they operated. The tour guide was very informative and was eager to share her knowledge with us.
Tip: The tour lasted roughly 2.5 hours.
