What To Expect
1
Strasburg
Stop at the farm where the Academy Award winning movie "Witness" was filmed. You will have a chance to tour the beautiful Amish farm which remains much as it was in the movie, interact with their many animals and possibly meet the wonderful Amish family who owns the farm. This is a completely private stop and not available to the public. We will stop at a private and beautiful Amish home, where the kids make birdhouses. Witness Amish craftsmanship up close in the artisan stable and barn - and purchase a birdhouse if you like.
2
Paradise
Tour of an operating, private Amish dairy farm dating back to 1830's
3
Amish Country
We will take a driving tour through beautiful Lancaster County farmland and learn about the history, culture, religion, and education of the Amish. We will see buildings associated with the very first European settlers from more than 300 years ago, covered bridges, 19th century mills, and more on our way to our first stop.
4
Strasburg
Stop at an Amish owned and operated creamery, where your ice cream is included, and the views are free too. This is ice cream as it should be... rich, fresh, and delicious!
5
Ronks
Shop where the Amish shop, not the tourists. Natural food stores are a staple for the Amish and we will go to an out of the way gem, for an up close look at this Amish run business.

The experience was enjoyable for all from a 9 year old to a 79 year old. Mike is a local boy who loves to share his knowledge of Lancaster County and the people who live there. While our experience was an immersion into the Amish farm way of life, we also learned about the Mennonites and their origins too. The use of earphones made it very easy to hear our guide as we road through the back roads of Lancaster County and stopped at 3 farms and two stores where we had ice cream cones and pretzels and other tasty delights as well as local snacks we could purchase. The animals at the farms were a delight for all of us to see and interact with. Even the farm dogs were friendly. We learned a lot about milk; organic, reduced fat, no fat, and how some make better ice cream than others. We're changing our milk purchase preferences. The time went by so quickly and we all wanted to return to have a meal with our new Amish friends arranged by loKal Experiences.

This was AMAZING and you MUST do it! Mike was the BEST! We saw Amish homes and place and met the actual Amish in a way one could NEVER duplicate on our own. He really knew his history and info, and took us to several places the public can't see- private homes and barns, down road you would never go or find. It doesn't matter what this costs you, if you are interested in the Amish and the area this is the BEST tour to take!
