Swimsuits and shorts work best. Secure shoes with a heel-strap are required (tennis shoes, water shoes, sport sandals with a heel-strap). Bare feet and flip-flops are not allowed. Don't forget to bring a change of clothes and a towel

My cousin & I went rafting yesterday and Dean was the ABSOLUTE BEST! This was both our first times water rafting and our guide made us feel very comfortable and safe!! We were both pretty nervous, but we were quickly put to ease with Dean! We highly recommend this company and we will definitely do this activity next time we are in town! It was fun but it was just a taste of white water rafting. It doesn’t have continuous rapids. There are actually some places where it’s so calm people jump off the raft and go swimming. Not really what I was expecting as far as getting an adrenaline rush.

We hope you enjoyed the service provided by SMO. All outfitters on the Pigeon River describe it as fun for first-timers and families with children as young as 8 years old. The ability to swim is not required. The Pigeon River is a Class III - IV river, which falls in the middle of the American Whitewater Scale of Class I - V. Many people say rafting the Pigeon was a highlight of their vacation. They enjoyed the rapids, the beautiful views, and the expertise of our staff and guides. Many people say that swimming was a favorite part of the trip. SMO prioritizes a safe, enjoyable, and memorable trip. For those who prefer more excitement on the Pigeon, we offer the Extreme trip, which is a smaller raft with fewer rafters. Smaller boats make for bigger waves. The minimum age is 12 and the ability to swim is required. Each river has its own personality. For more intense (and riskier) experiences, you might enjoy the Class V rivers of West Virginia.
