Our family of 6, kids ages 8-13 recently went on the Upper Pigeon whitewater rafting trip. I was so nervous about my kids possibly falling in or someone getting hurt but the guides assured us with all of the safety procedures and their own expertise. They told us it would be the most fun we would have all year and they were so right! Hobbit was our guide and he was so awesome. At one point my daughter fell in the river (her own fault) and Hobbit reacted so quickly to get her back in the raft. He was experienced and so much fun. There are many options out there but we were headed down the river with a few other rafting companies and we got to do some fun things that the other groups didnā€™t do. If you are on the fence about this, do it! It will be the most fun!

Our group of seven traveled from Gatlinburg to ride the rapids. Complete the waiver forms and lined up for our gear. We were provided instructions by our guide, loaded up on the bus and headed up river near the North Carolina state line/power dam. Boats were unloaded and we headed down to the water. We loaded up in our raft and away we went. Just down the river a few hundred yards were the photo crew set up on the left side. Water was cold, rapids were great and our rapids guide Lisa was awesome! She did a great job providing instructions to our group and kept us safe along the way. She let us out the raft to float a short distance along the way. She also is a comedian wanna be with lots of lame jokes which kept us laughing! Keep it up Lisa and maybe one day youā€™ll have your debut on stage! Pictures were offered digitally and about 15 photos provided for $40 plus tax. Pictures were great quality and captured our smiling faces.

This was my husband and I's first time white water rafting. This was by far one of the coolest things my husband and I had ever done and definitely a highlight of our trip to the smokies. Our guide John was super friendly, experienced and just seemed to thoroughly love his job. I felt safe the entire time during this experience and without a doubt felt that if something did happen, John and other members would have gotten me to safety. The river was a mix of rapids and calmer areas where you could even jump in and swim. The water temp was perfect in the beginning of July and the river looked very clean. You will 100% be soaking wet by the end of this but there are large changing areas/bathrooms at the facility. Definitely will be rafting in the future and would use this company again if back in the area.
