Uptown Eats! Trolley Tour with Food Tours of America

Overview
The Uptown Eats! Trolley Tour with Food Tours of America is a foodie lovers favorite with over ten different food tastings in three sit down restaurants, including a sweet dessert treat. Opt-into signature alcohol pairings, mocktails, or an Osadia Tequila flight experience from Texas’ best. In between tastings, we’ll visit the McKinney Avenue Trolley “Car Barn” for a VIP behind the scenes tour where Dallas’ original trolleys are restored and maintained. We’ll take insta-worthy photos, meet a trolley conductor, then hop on a vintage trolley for a ride to the West Village Shopping District! This is our original tour, established in 2012, and every tour supports our local trolleys with a donation.

Great time with our tour guide who was also a city planner in his former life. He knew all kinds of things and took us to places even our long time Dallas family didn’t know about! ( no spoilers here). The three food stops were very nice….all quite unique, which was fun. Unique in architecture as well as food. Last stop was for dessert! All 3 families from 35-75, enjoyed! Thank you for a great experience!

Hi Dora, thank you so much for this wonderful review! I'm so happy to hear that all three families enjoyed your Uptown & West Village Foodie Walk with three generous food stops and a bonus dessert tasting. Please visit us again in Deep Ellum or coming soon try our two new tours - Downtown Dallas and the Fine Arts District.

Justin was a great tour guide. Knowledgeable, fun, good stories. Food was terrific. Huge portions to share or sample. Not just tastes, no way. Breadwinners was our favorite but the Lebanese place a close 2nd. Took a trolley ride and we were even more niter into the trolley barn by one of the trolley workers. The key is into one of the historic trolleys in the barn where we met Bernie the trolley barn cat. Well done, highly recommend.

Hi Stephen. Thanks for your five star review! Justin is one of our most experienced tour guides and he does have wonderful stories to share! I'm so glad the trolley barn was open and you were invited inside. What a special treat! The antique trolleys of Uptown have so much rich history. They really are a hidden gem in Dallas. We will be sure to let Bread Winners Cafe & Bakery and Baboush Moroccan Lebanese fusion know that you enjoyed your time with them. Both are Uptown icons and family owned and operated.

My boyfriend and I were so excited for this food tour, but we were ultimately left extremely disappointed. Our tour was supposed to be from 6-9pm. We arrived at Breadwinners completely lost. There was no one to greet us and no signage posted to show us where to go. We asked the staff at Breadwinners and they showed us to the room where the rest of the tour participants were. We entered that room at 6:01pm, but sadly, everyone was already seated, eating, some people had even finished their food already. There wasn't any space for us when we arrived. I had to ask people to move and make room just so we could sit down! Mind you, the tour was supposed to start at 6 and we got to the table at 6:01! They completely started without us! How rude! I was totally thrown off and appalled at the whole situation. We were celebrating our anniversary too, so it definitely ruined our special occasion. While we were at Breadwinners, we got served chicken and waffles, and I had already prepaid for each of us to have 2 drinks. Jim, our tour guide, took our drink orders, but for some reason, only my boyfriend was served a drink. When I inquired about the Moscow mule I ordered, Jim patted my shoulder and said I should have said something sooner. I'm sorry, but WHAT??? They forgot my drink and never brought it, but that's somehow my fault? From there, I honestly wanted to leave, but we paid for the experience so we stayed and it only for worse! We then went to another restaurant where the food was mediocre at best. Everyone was served water except for me. I had to ask for water. Then we all got our food and ordered drinks. Jim told us we could get a paloma with vodka or a margarita with tequila. I HATE tequila so I ordered the Paloma only to discover it had tequila in it, not vodka. Jim lied, and I was stuck drinking something I absolutely hated. We went to the last restaurant which served Mediterranean food that was absolutely disgusting. It was pita bread with nasty dip and some kind of lamb roll. Needless to say, my boyfriend and I wanted to throw up. Oh, and the highlight of the restaurant were the fries our tour guide kept going on and on about. Yup, we paid an excessive amount of money to get served FRIES on our tour. There was nothing "upscale" about it. We got our dessert which consisted of lemon bars and brownies which were actually really good. This tour lasted about 2.5 hours - not the 3 I paid for. We weren't given much history about uptown or Dallas, and the guide couldn't even recommend a good bar to go to downtown when another couple asked him. But we did get a 60 second summary about how JFK's assassination was a conspiracy. At the end of the tour, Jim tried to charge us for an extra drink (the one I NEVER got at Breadwinners). I reminded him I never got it and he didn't charge us, but it definitely added salt to the wound. Overall, we didn't have a good time. The tour started without us and most people were done eating at 6:01pm when it was supposed to start at 6. The food wasn't anything special. There was nothing unique to Dallas or uptown. You could get any of that anywhere. There was very little history given, and we didn't receive good service from beginning to end. Don't waste your money. You're better off creating your own tour. At least you'll get the drinks you order, and at least people won't start eating without you.
