Vanishing Mile Isle Beachcomber Tour

Overview
Enjoy a two and a half hour adventure on your own private boat. Your Master Captain will guide you safely through the Calibogue on a falling tide to the Mile Isle. This mile long sandbar is exposed for only a couple of hours per day, allowing beachcombers the chance to collect sand dollars, sea shells and the occasional sharks tooth.

We’ll stop along the way to look for wild dolphins playing in the sound. We’ll share information about the island, the salt marsh and the surrounding ecosystem. Your Captain is also a Low Country Master Naturalist, and will assist you in identifying the various shells, mollusks and other invertebrates to be found on this tour!

This is an ideal outing for families and small groups. With up to 6 passengers, there’s plenty of room onboard and a comfortable seat for everyone.

Amazing! We’ve been on several tours and this was definitely our favorite. We learned so much, saw a ton of dolphins, and the vanishing island is a neat experience. Captain Mark was phenomenal — very knowledgeable and pleasant.

Thank you Liz! I really enjoyed having your family out on the water and appreciate you being flexible with your schedule! The waters are a little cool this time of year, but there is still so much to see, and exploring the island never disappoints! Thanks again for including my tour into your vacation plans and I look forward to seeing you again soon!

What a great day! Thank you Captain Mark! We had a great ride and were able to see several dolphins, crabs, starfish, birds, etc. We even caught a glimpse of a baby dolphin and mama swimming side by side. Captain Mark treated our kids to unique discoveries on the Vanishing Mile Island. He took the time to answer all their questions about everything they saw or whatever they managed to pick up during our stroll. Captain Mark made the extra effort to ensure that we could see everything the mud flats and sound had to offer. Everyone had a great day. Thank you again, Captain Mark.

Captain Mark is the best tour guide around. He was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife around HHI and we learned so much. We had an amazing tour!! We explored the vanishing isle and saw many sea stars, sand dollars, crabs, and dolphins. At the end of the tour Captain Mark took us to back waters to see if we could witness the dolphins strand feeding - and WE DID! It was truly phenomenal to see. I cannot recommend this tour enough. We’ve been to HHI a handful of times, but have never experienced it the way we did yesterday. There aren’t enough positive words to describe our experience. Captain Mark, thank you for all you do. We WILL be back!!
