Overview

Crystal River is home to beautiful fresh water springs, a large variety of wildlife, and or course our famous manatee residents! This in-water manatee snorkel experience is EXTRA special since the 6-passenger boat is strictly dedicated to you and your party and includes a FREE photo package. ($40 value.)

Each winter between 700 and 1000 manatees migrate here seeking out our three first magnitude spring systems, each with a constant temperature of 72° to 74° F (23° C). Even in the warm summer months, Crystal River has a local population of 70-100 manatees that remain here year round. Due to efforts by many local, state and federal entities, our manatee population is thriving. We feel that an in-water swim experience is an important part of this education and conservation effort. Our team of highly trained in-water guides ensure your experience with this cherished and threatened species is handled with the utmost care and respect by encouraging passive observation.

I grew up in Crystal River, and I have been in the water with manatees dozens of times, but none of those times came anywhere close to being as special as this tour! Ed and Kim are great people, who expertly guided us and educated us throughout the experience. It was the first time in the water with these gentle giants for my wife and teen daughter, and they were not looking forward to getting in the river during a cold snap, but once they saw the manatees, they were hooked! Thanks so much to both Ed and Kim for making their first experience so meaningful, and for giving me the joy of seeing something familiar to me through new eyes. I can't say enough about the professionalism and knowledge of these folks. Definitely take a tour with them the next time you are in town!

We loved our private manatee tour!!! The manatees and the beautiful Crystal River area are amazing, and Captain Ed and First Mate Kim were fantastic guides who helped us feel comfortable and confident as we snorkeled in this incredible environment. Our group ranged in age from 10 - 75 years, and we all felt very well looked after. The boat was very comfortable. The in-water photography was great--it is so nice to have underwater pictures of our family enjoying this incredible experience. I highly recommend the manatee tour at Salty Siren Tours and Charters, and hope to join them for another tour sometime soon!
