The three-hour adventure starts with a flight over Kilauea in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on the planet and often spews lava from its crater. If you’re lucky, you just may see it! Then fly north to the lush Kohala Coast, where you will land in a remote area and enjoy your own private paradise for an hour.

Suitable for all physical fitness levels
Due to weather, flights may be 100 to 120 minutes in length
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Children 8 yrs and older must sit in the front middle seat. Children 12 yrs and older may sit by an open door.
All pilots and aircraft are FAA-certified
Helicopter holds 6 passengers; larger groups may be separated
All guests weighing 270 lbs or more when weighed at check-in, will be required to purchase an additional empty seat less 15% before fuel surcharge to safely balance the aircraft. They will be guaranteed a window seat.
Seating is assigned based on weight and balance following guidelines which have been approved by the FAA. We cannot guarantee seats as the weight of guests must be balanced within the aircraft.
A seat upgrade is not a guarantee; however, if you purchase a co-pilot and/or window seat upgrades, we will do our best to seat you in your purchased location. If we cannot accomodate a seat upgrade due to weight and balance requirements for your flight (or for any other reason), we will refund your upgrade purchase at check-in.

My favorite activity on the Big Island! The helicopter ride was a fantastic way to tour the island and see the different climates it offers. Enjoyed seeing the volcano and the gigantic waterfalls, and the landing site was absolutely magical. Ryan, our pilot, was great - super knowledgeable and helped everyone feel comfortable the entire flight. I tend to get motion sickness so I took a Dramamine beforehand and felt fine. Wish I would have brought a light jacket because it got a little chilly at the landing sight, but other than that…absolutely no regrets!

When choosing which helicopter operator I wanted to book through, I read reviews specifically looking for a company that, maybe didn’t cater to children, but didn’t shy away from them! I wanted to do something special for my partner and his 10-year old son to commemorate our big vacation together. Paradise Helicopters did NOT disappoint. When I originally spoke with the booking department, they asked if the kiddo would be okay sitting in the copilots seat. I explained he’d been on a helicopter before, but never for so long and I wasn’t sure how he’d do without being close to someone he knew. They were so kind and suggested maybe I sit up front, but after the mid-flight landing (and if he was up for it) we switch seats. The did whatever math/planning is required to make sure the weight would be even distributed in either scenario. Captain Keith was an absolute gem. He was professional, but funny (in his own dry way). He made sure to point out all of the sights we didn’t want to miss. He flew over our hotel so we could see it from the air. He safely got us as close to the top of Kilauea as possible so we could see red lava! He made a killer cup of coffee at the mid-flight stop. Acted as a photographer for us. And even had a pretty great music mix to go with tour (think Jimmy Buffet’s “volcano” as you’re going over volcanoes and TLC’s “Waterfalls” over some of the waterfalls! 😂). He didn’t even mind a 10 year old pressing the push to talk button more than he probably should have and managed to answer all of questions. The flight was smooth. The booking simple. The ground crew was awesome. It was totally worth it. Also- “A billion stars out of 5! Would totally recommend. A one in a lifetime experience (even though I hope to do it again)!”- review from the 10-year old.

We had a fabulous helicopter tour with Keith. He is a great pilot with the personality to match! I felt safe and confident in his ability the whole trip. We were able to get close enough to see glowing lava in the volcano and spent time around the gorgeous area known as “ Narnia” The waterfalls and lagoon pools were breathtaking! Definitely a bucket list activity!
