Although it's been two years ago this June since we were there, this is Still the Most Talked About Tour of our entire two month RV vacation. (Sorry about the date box, it's a mandatory field and it doesn't go back to 2018).
My husband and I joined the group as walkups, at the very last minute, so we couldn't sit together. However, the gregarious driver had us all introducing ourselves and chatting like best friends within a few blocks.
The big van was roomy and truly immaculate. Because our line of sight was above the roof level of any parked cars, we didn't miss a thing.
It was so fun seeing with our own eyes, many of the homes we had watched Chip and Joanna remodel. Stopping for ice cream at Heritage Creamery, browsing at Harp Design, seeing the layout of Baylor College (Chip's beloved Alma Mater), and shopping at the Silos when it was all over, was better than going to an amusement park for this big kid.
Back to our wonderful driver. I wish I could recall his name. He gave us detailed histories of Waco, told us folk tales, tall tales, and had us chasing our tails, as we came up with answers to questions about Fixer Upper episodes and the lyrics to old songs, which we then sang as we cruised along from location to location.
He gave us the long version of a well known Native American Love Story and had everyone in the van singing the Running Bear and Little White Dove song on our way to the cliff side park above the Brazos River, that he swore with a wink was the location on which the song was based.
Well worth the money. You'll talk about it for years to come.
