Great trip filled with lots of iconic DC sites squeezed into a convenient 3-4 hour bus from NYC! Be sure to bring a book and/or pillow/blanket for the bus ride... and def wear your athletic shoes for all the walking (and stairs!) and sunscreen/hat. We easily walked 8k steps via fitbit (plus 3k more since we walked from our hotel to the pkup location-btw that McDonald's will not be open at 6:30am). Tour guide and bus drivers were wonderful--only spoke on the mic when touring DC (very knowledgeable) or coming up on a rest stop. Bring snacks if you think you'll need something to eat before the 30 min stop 2 hrs into bus ride up to DC. There's an hour lunch @ ~2pm, then the same 30 rest stop on the drive back at the halfway point. The 30 min rest stop is at a food court and it is VERY busy (at least when we went in summer) so you expect to be pressed for time if you plan on ordering food and visiting restroom. The bus has a toilet on it (but no sink) and it's tough to use when bus is motion. The only downside was that it rained on the drive back and the bus' top hatch/ceiling where we were sitting leaked water on to the floor and a few seats the whole way back, which caused us to change seats. I'm sure they'll fix it. REGARDLESS, we were SO happy to have done this tour while visiting NYC!
