We went on the “3 hour whale watching trip.” However, after seeing a few whales, with less than two of the three hours gone, we were driven near the Waikiki shores to look for turtles and the skyline, and slowly made our way back towards the harbor. This was a whale-watching tour, not a turtle-watching tour. We didn’t pay $100 each to see turtles. At some point, my husband had seen some spouting and so was trying to get the captain’s attention, but the captain was too busy on his phone to pay attention. Instead, we lolligagged along the shore for about 45 minutes. With about 20 minutes to go, he made a token effort to drive out to open waters, but came right back, because by then our 3 hours were up. I realize that we’re not constantly going to see whales, but he could have stayed out in the open waters longer, instead of wasting time near the shoreline. If you want to see turtles, go on a turtle-watching tour. We paid to see whales. Disappointed.

This was such a cool experience! We saw a couple of whales, and were able to follow along with them for quite a while! We watched those whales breach surface many times and a sea turtle as well. The crew was great, very helpful and fun in spotting sealife. It was one of our favorite experiences in Hawaii!
