I am cheap and I would pay the price to do this again. Yes you can wait by the coast and hope to see a whale, but you might wait all day and never see anything. In the boat you get up close. They know where the whales are. It was truly amazing. The crew was fantastic. Bring your own binoculars if you have them. Their binoculars were not that great. But most of the time you don't even need binoculars because they are so close. But it did take awhile for us to get close and it was nice to have them. Dress warm it gets cool on the water when the boat is moving (even on hot days). It is difficult to get a good picture, so he last half I just turned off the camera and enjoyed the moment. I can't wait to do this again and with my kids.

We recently went out on our fourth trip with San Juan Safari's and are continuously impressed with this company! We have had the pleasure of having Captain Mike all four times and several different naturalists. All of the crew has been so professional and knowledgeable. We have seen whales (and lots of other wildlife) on each trip. Our most recent was my favorite - witnessed a kill by transient orcas and then their celebration afterward! Thank you SJS's, this won't be our last trip with you!

We took our family on this great trip. The naturalists were very informative and the boat was comfortable and well equipped. We had a 2 and 4 year old with us and they enjoyed the experience as well. We saw lots of whales; however, I am not giving the great review because of that. They set realistic expectations--they would try to locate the whales and they thought there was a good opportunity that day.
