We have been on maybe a dozen whale watches with Cape Ann. They are always informative, fun, and respectful of the beautiful wildlife that we see. We decided to take my mom, who uses a wheelchair, with us on our last visit. We knew that the boat heads were not accessible, but there was an accessible portapotty on the company site before boarding. I called several times to ask about how the logistics of getting a wheelchair user on and off board worked, and we even discussed bathrooms and the staff made sure I knew the bathrooms on board were not accessible. After we drove an hour to get there, we went to go use the bathroom only to discover that there was no accessible portapotty. I went back inside and asked about it, and the staff just said "they didn't deliver one this year," as if it was a mistake but just was never corrected. My 74 year old mother couldn't even go to the bathroom before boarding for the 3-4 hour trip, it was either choose that or miss the boat. I was just disappointed knowing how hard I had tried to make sure it would be safe and possible to get my mom this amazing experience (which she loved!) but there was zero thought about customers with mobility issues who cannot use a bathroom with a step up and limited space, both on board and the inaccessible portapotty. In all my contact with staff, no one thought to say, "oh we didn't get an accessible portapotty this year" (although it sounded like they were supposed to). You are telling your customers with disabilities that they are an afterthought and unwelcome. Was sad about this because we had such a great time and have always had a great time.

We had a beautiful day for our whale watch. The naturalist was very knowledgeable and excited along with us when we were joined by several pairs of whales and 3 pods of dolphins! The crew moved the boat around seamlessly to give us a good view of the animals. The gentleman moving around to groups on the boat with baleen, animal teeth and lots of whale facts was very interesting. Seeing the coastline and Thatcher Island from the ocean was very special. It was a great way to start the day with friends in Gloucester! Thanks so much!

Cape Ann Whale Watch promised whales and they delivered. It was a fantastic outing and the fact that there was a naturalist on board to answer any questions was great. We learned the names and a bit of the history of the whales we saw! Talking to others who went with other outfitters, this was not standard. I highly recommend Cape Ann.
