The White Salmon River tumbles and charges its way down a narrow basalt canyon. The rapids are big and bouncy with many large waves and powerful holes. With rapids like Maytag, Corner Cave, Grasshoper, Siwash, Corkscrew, Waterspout, Stairstep, Highway Hole, Rattlesnake and Deadmans’ Corner (and many more), thrillseekers love this trip. This is an eight-mile trip with the first five miles consisting of continuous class III+ and IV rapids.

The White Salmon River is located only 90 minutes from the Portland/Vancouver area so that you can experience some of the most thrilling and sporty III-IV rapids in the area. The glaciers of Mt. Adams combined with the immense aquifers in the area, keep the White Salmon bubbling all summer long. The river cuts its way through one of the most beautiful, constricted, and heavily forested gorges in the area. The water is gin-clear, the weather is fabulous and rapids are big and numerous; making the White Salmon River one of the most exciting half-day or full-day river rafting trips in the west!

This was an amazing adventure on the White Salmon river with good friends! As a newbie, I had concerns about safety and lots of questions. The River Drifters and Wes, our guide provided reassurance and expert instruction to kept everyone safe in our group. I am very grateful that my friends challenged me to get out of my comfort zone. I will defiantly return next year!!!

Aaron (Tennessee) was amazing! I am not a swimmer but he made me feel incredibly safe. This was a huge step for me I'm not the adventurous type. It was my sister and I's first time whitewater rafting so we were a little nervous to start. Once we walked into River Drifters office that all changed. Every employee is extremely genuine and immediately puts you at ease. Not only do they teach you all the safety measures and basics but also some cool tricks too. Our guide Larry had over 30 years of experience being a guide and it definitely showed. Everyone in our raft was having a great time and the rafting in the White Salmon river was an amazing ride. I would highly recommend the River Drifters for first time rafters or experienced gurus, they adjust to whatever skill set you have. Thank you River Drifters for such a wonderful experience, it was truly the highlight of our trip!
