This is the perfect way to experience the gorgeous countryside of the Willamette Valley and learn a lot about the area and the history of wine-making. My daughter and I travelled with five other guests and our lovely driver - whose name sadly escapes me (possibly June?) - and visited three wineries, one more beautiful than the next. The hosts at each were friendly, knowledgeable and rather generous in their pourings, and there was no pressure to buy, although we succumbed voluntarily. I was nervous at the prospect of a five and half hour trip, but it flew by, and the longest part was the initial hour or so to get on the road out of Portland, but we were very well entertained and informed by the driver. The "fun fact" that stayed with me was that winemaking started in the valley as long ago as the 1860s, but the vines were uprooted and destroyed during Prohibition. Oh, the vandalism... This was a lovely experience, and our fellow travellers were charming and sociable.
