Willamette Valley
The Willamette Valley wine region, once known for its fruit orchards and nurseries, has become one of the United States' premier producers of cool-climate varietals like pinot noir. Start your wine country tour with hotel pickup from downtown Portland, and make your way by Mercedes Sprinter Van to three wineries carefully chosen by us. Portland is the perfect hub for exploring quiet backcountry roads through Oregon’s wine country, with more than half of the state’s 500 or so wineries located about 45 minutes away in the nearby Willamette Valley taking in beautiful vistas of gently rolling hills that give way to the expansive valley with views the Cascade Mountains. At each winery, taste a select group of varietals that will please even the most discerning palate, from reds like Pinot Noir Cabernet Franc to award-winning Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Rose, Riesling & more. ITINERARY Wineries visited in this region may vary based on day of the week and winery availability.

This is the perfect way to experience the gorgeous countryside of the Willamette Valley and learn a lot about the area and the history of wine-making. My daughter and I travelled with five other guests and our lovely driver - whose name sadly escapes me (possibly June?) - and visited three wineries, one more beautiful than the next. The hosts at each were friendly, knowledgeable and rather generous in their pourings, and there was no pressure to buy, although we succumbed voluntarily. I was nervous at the prospect of a five and half hour trip, but it flew by, and the longest part was the initial hour or so to get on the road out of Portland, but we were very well entertained and informed by the driver. The "fun fact" that stayed with me was that winemaking started in the valley as long ago as the 1860s, but the vines were uprooted and destroyed during Prohibition. Oh, the vandalism... This was a lovely experience, and our fellow travellers were charming and sociable.

My friends and I were going on this tour as per of my friends bachelorette party. The minute we got on the bus and the tour guide found out we were a bachelorette party he started telling us how we couldn’t have any alcohol but if we wanted to do edibles he knew of some places and he wouldn’t tell on us but then said if we caused any problems he would kick us out of the tour. This made my friends and I feel really uncomfortable to the point where we did not want to go on the tour anymore so I told our tour guide I wasn’t feeling well. After which he said he would ask the office about refunds for us and that I should call the office to talk to them as well. I called the office on Monday and they told me there would be no refund because “our tour guide could tell we were not feeling good and if we had gotten sick in the van, that everyone would have to have a refund issued so that’s why he decided to talk to us like he did.” So all in all my friends and I were made to feel very uncomfortable by an older gentleman and had to pay $300 to do so and the company apparently doesn’t care that their tour guides are making young women feel uncomfortable and will more than likely co Tunis to let it happen. Don’t use this company. It’s a scam
