Our guide was very outgoing and did her best to make the tour enjoyable. Some of the stops were very good and others just OK. I've been on many food tours and they usually present a wealth of information about the town, the architecture, the restaurants and the food and drink we will taste. Usually, the destinations are carefully chosen for their historical value, atmosphere, or signature dishes. Al lot of that was missing in this trip. Our guide had minimal information about Williamsburg, the restaurants or the food we were tasting. A couple of the stops were pizza and subs - food that can be eaten pretty much anywhere. A couple of the stops were at nice food shops, but those samples can be had without the assistance of a food tour. With all the wonderful cuisine and historic locations in Williamsburg, this could have been much better. That said, we did very much enjoy the mac and cheese at Blue Talon Bistro and the cupcake at Justified Bakery. We enjoyed the company of our group and April sincerely did her best to make the tour fun.

We’ve been on quite a few walking food tours as we travel a lot. We love to taste local food and hear some history or learn architectural highlights, etc along the way. It’s started out interesting with some info on Merchants Square then sorta fizzled...the peanut shop with free samples for ALL who pass through their door..? Really? This isn’t a tour stop; it’s a point to that shop and keep moving. The tour route also repeated the same walking route to and back from the outer stop. Williamsburg has lots to see and is bigger than that. Some stops were interesting, some folks working there gave some history. We like these types of tours but felt that after everything done so excellently in Williamsburg and the triangle, really, that they should put a bit more effort into developing their stops and finding fun, funky facts about buildings and people that make up Williamsburg’s eateries. (Tour guide was fine for what they had in store for us!)

I have personally done quite a few food tours and this one is certainly one of the top ones we've done. The tour stopped at 10 different places and we had a sampling of many things. From peanuts, to pizza, to beer/ciders, to desserts - there is something from everyone! April was a fantastic tour leader - she was fun and gave a bit of history of the area.
