Wonder Women of Gettysburg Walking Tour

Overview
While history tends to focus on the famous, this tour will examine the everyday individuals, particularly women, who looked out for the weak, treated the sick and injured, buried the dead, and made life as secure as they could for the families left behind as the town's men left for the war. You'll learn about the lives of women like Mary McAllister, Sallie Myers, and Philinda Humiston who are rarely mentioned in history books but had a significant impact on this close-knit community during some of its darkest times, as well as women like Tillie Pierce, Jennie Wade, and Elizabeth Thorn who have houses or statues named after them. With the help of this unique tour, learn more about the Wonder Women of Gettysburg.
