We have been on many food tours and we love how different each city food tour can be. This food tour was by far the most history we had. Disappointed that we did not go to the Colombian restaurant which was mentioned on the website. We only had 2 Cuban tasting and we were hoping for more tasting like deviled crabs or potato balls. Chicken wings and pizza were also on this tour and when you think of ybor city you certainly do not think of those foods having an influence. It was extremely hot that day (104)and we end the tour with Cuban coffee. It would have been much better to end with some Italian dessert (Italian ice maybe?)to incorporate the Italian history we learned about. On such a hot day it would have been nicer to hear the history while we were inside enjoying the food instead of being outside.

Hi J C, We are so happy you were able to experience Ybor City through history and food. On our site we mention visiting Columbia Restaurant as a stop to see the oldest restaurant in the US. Although they want us to come inside as a Tourist stop, the high demand of crowds that attend daily, deny us the chance to remain on time with our food tour if we were to actually go in to wait to be served. So we only stop by for pictures when time allows. Your suggestion for Italian Ice has been noted and given to upper management, thanks. As far as our food choices, they are based around the 4 Cultures that make up Ybor City: Spanish (Cafe Con Leche) , Italians (Margherita Pizza), Cubans (Cuban Rice, Cuban Sandwich), and the Germans (Beer-Battered Wings). Each stop was used as a platform to highlight that nationality. We too would love to have our tour mostly indoors where the cool air conditioner would allow the most comfort, but the true history of Ybor is best seen rather than discussed. So we are outside most of the time. We welcome you to come back to our town on your next trip. Actually dinning at Columbia, along with other key restaurants in our town is highly suggested. Again, we are so glad you were able to attend our food tour, and we appreciate all comments and rating. It is guests like you that make us strive for excellence! See you back soon.

Laura Z. was amazing. We’ve been to Ybor City a dozen times and never knew or appreciated the history. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. Not only do we recommend her, we will surely be seeing her on a future tour. It was an Excellent experience.
