Ye Olde Tavern Tours

Overview
Ye Olde Tavern Tours offers historic tavern tours in Boston because we believe beer makes history even better! On our guided walking tours, you'll see ten sites on the Freedom Trail and grab a beer at some of the nation's most historic taverns. When visiting Boston, there are certain historic sites and stories you shouldn't leave without seeing and hearing, and you'll do all of that on our tour, all while drinking beer!

Led by expertly-trained historians (our guides have a minimum of a Bachelor's in History and many of them are currently working towards or have a PhD in History), you'll learn about the drunken and revolutionary history of Boston in the eighteenth century.

We cap each tour at 12 people to provide an intimate and accessible experience. Our tours are the most fun and social way to experience Boston!

We are a small, local business and we greatly appreciate your support!

My husband and I just got back from a weekend trip to Boston and we opted to take the Ye Olde Tavern Tour on Saturday. The meeting location was easy to find, our guide was prompt and very knowledgeable throughout the tour. I just felt as though the tour was a bit rushed...we stopped at a cemetery and only stood by the entrance - we were not allowed any time to walk around to look at the tombs or take any photos. The taverns we stopped at were neat, but there was very little time to enjoy your beer before moving on to the next stop. Felt like I had to chug my beer and was always rushing to keep up with the group. I would have liked to have more time at the taverns and more time to stop and take photos on the tour.

Megan was our guide and she did a great job of dropping a lot of knowledge while making the tour fun. The beer selections at the three taverns were also very good. Definitely recommend this tour.

What a fantastic dose of Boston history viewed liked they lived it, over a mug of beer. The tavern tour was great but the history presented by our guide Megan was outstanding. Read Brooke's book. This group is made up of some fun but really scholarly people. They also know all the special brews made for the bigger bars which is really cool if your a hard core beer hunter.
