Ye Olde Tavern Tours

Overview
Ye Olde Tavern Tours offers historic tavern tours in Boston because we believe beer makes history even better! On our guided walking tours, you'll see ten sites on the Freedom Trail and grab a beer at some of the nation's most historic taverns. When visiting Boston, there are certain historic sites and stories you shouldn't leave without seeing and hearing, and you'll do all of that on our tour, all while drinking beer!

Led by expertly-trained historians (our guides have a minimum of a Bachelor's in History and many of them are currently working towards or have a PhD in History), you'll learn about the drunken and revolutionary history of Boston in the eighteenth century.

We cap each tour at 12 people to provide an intimate and accessible experience. Our tours are the most fun and social way to experience Boston!

We are a small, local business and we greatly appreciate your support!

So you think you remember your American revolution history from grade school. All lies! Find out the truth from Ye Olde Tavern Tours. History with beer, indeed.

This tour was hands down the best one we went on in Boston. Nina was our tour guide and she was excellent! I'm not huge into history but my boyfriend is. Nina made the history of Boston and the stops on the Freedom Trail and taverns interesting for both of us. We had a blast on this tour and the beer was a bonus! Huzzah!

We had an amazing time on this tour and strongly recommend it! Our tour guide was fantastic; she was knowledgeable, interesting, friendly, and approachable for questions. The tour was fascinating from the very beginning, and the story of the impending American Revolution was told really well with the backdrop of the walk through historic Boston and the stops at the three taverns. We are from Boston and have an interest in history, and we learned a lot on this tour--it dives deep into some fun and interesting facts about local history! Our tour guide was a history Ph.D. student and clearly had a lot of knowledge on the topics, and was open and interested in our questions. The tour was also active and engaging, with lots of walking around and movement, and the tour guide using a tablet to pass around different historical images to add context to the tour. The pace was also perfect and we were able to enjoy our drinks while taking a break inside and hearing more about the framing story of the impending Revolution. For those especially interested in trying out local breweries as well, this tour gives you a great opportunity to try local beers and ciders. We strongly recommend this tour, whether you are visiting Boston for the first time or have lived here your whole life!
