  • Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
  • Between November and March, when the trail is not safe due to snow and ice accumulation, we substitute the hike with additional time in Yosemite Valley.
  • During winter months, temperatures in Yosemite can vary drastically to the ones in San Francisco. Therefore, it is recommend to wear winter clothes, especially shoes or boots with rubber soles and treads.
  • The Giant Sequoias Grove is located at a higher elevation and the hike is dependent on trail conditions, especially from October through May. Ice and snow might make the trail unsafe to hike. The decision of whether it is safe to go on the hike will be made on a day by day basis. Therefore, a visit cannot be guaranteed. However, while the trail might be closed, guests get to spend more time in Yosemite Valley. There you can see all the other great sights Yosemite has to offer, including El Capitan, Inspiration Point, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls and more.

This tour was really a tour of two halves I’ll start with the positives Dave- our tour guide for the second day was fantastic. He was so warm, friendly and passionate about the trip. He spent extra time at El Capitan to explain the climbs and was very helpful when we walked to the Giant Sequoai’s. The walk to the trees isn’t too bad, I think anyone under 70-75 would be able to do easily, and any mild fitness base would help. Now, Andy Howse. I’ve never met someone so self centred in my life. He mocked a lady who had a wheelchair saying ‘our friend in the chair is holding us up’ numerous times. He continued to mention how little the company paid him and how without tipping him he wouldn’t survive. He woke people up by singing a song. Not just for 30 seconds as a joke but a full 4 minutes He also repeatedly mentioned genocide on the trip and was very rude and abrupt. I would seriously consider your hiring policy for a guy like this. Dave was one of the best tour guides on our 10 week honeymoon. Andy Howse was the worst.

Thanks so much for your review. I'm glad you had a chance to talk with Arlene about your experience. We apologize for Andy's poor choice of humor on your tour and we have had a coaching session with him about that. Thanks for understanding and we hope to see you again down the road.
