My husband and i went to the musher camp when the cruise ship arrived in skagway. Professional musher, michelle phillips gave talk and explained about her chosen life style/career along with her dogs. Can only imagine how hard this is in winter, she and husband, also professional musher are truly remarkable individuals. Dedicated to preserving the life of musher and what a love and respect for their dogs which was reciprocated in loud barks. Have to applaud them, definitely not doing job for money, this is a vocation, inspiring to see people like them preserving the land/lifestyle , very hard work in harsh land. Our tour guide, michael, from lowell, massachusetts, from skagway day trips & skagway scooter was a wealth of information about the area/wildlife, and had a great love of alaska and outdoors. He was hilarious, very well travelled, made bus ride go with a laugh. We even saw 2 bears feeding on dandelions by the highway. Traffic stopped, you could hear a pin drop, we were amazed that all cars stopped to look at bears, not being aggressive in a hurry, respecting nature that was a shock for us coming from city life. You must save money for this day trip, even if it's the only day trip you do, you will not be disappointed and did i mention we got to hold alaskan puppies various ages and pet adult ones too. Go there!

We truly loved this experience. Several scenic stops to take pictures and our tour guide Brian was very nice. Completely got a kick out of the dog camp and petting the puppies. The only think I didn't like was the bus. Needs to be upgraded. Very squeaky and rough.

We had such a blast on this tour. First off our guides Mike and Harry were fantastic. They offered a lot of information and made the ride to the Yukon very enjoyable. At the camp we held puppies, listened to a presentation, and then actually rode with Michelle herself on a training run via ATV with the dogs. It was very personal and cool to see her in action with the dogs. We talked to other cruisers who did another excursion thru the cruise line and they didn’t even get to hold puppies or meet a real musher. I strongly reckoned this tour!
