We went out on the Margaret Todd on June 14. It began to storm within 10 minutes of departure. Obviously, this company can't control the weather, but it is standard for them to cancel and issue refunds because of inclement weather. They really should have done that. We saw the possibility of rain, but knew that if we didn't go, we wouldn't get a refund since the trip hadn't been cancelled by them, so we, like the others, took a chance. It was pretty miserable, but it was made worse by how they handled it. They could have issued, say, a free drink, or a partial refund. Speaking of drinks: the credit card system for the bar was not operating properly, which made drinks cash only, which also meant a lot of very wet, very cold people who didn't bring cash because they didn't think they'd need it who couldn't even have the small pleasure of a drink onboard. We were among the lucky ones, managing to scrape together $12 for a can of wine. To cap off the whole trip: we returned almost 45 minutes before schedule. Sure, most everyone was ready to get off the ship, but still, we paid for two hours and got an 1 hour and 15 minutes. No refund, full or partial. No apology. Not impressed.

We are so sorry for the delay. Thank you, we appreciate your honest review. Unfortunately, like you said, we cannot control the coastal Maine weather but our weather policy does state that we will sail in a variety of conditions including light rain. Unless we are experiencing dangerous weather conditions such as heavy rain and fog or thunderstorms, we usually will not cancel if there are no safety concerns. We do apologize about the beverage service being so inconvenient. The rain did mess with our card system and we were forced to switch to cash only. We would have gladly rebooked you to the 10am sail the next morning as long as we had seats available. We are very sorry that you were not happy with our sail and that it was not what you had expected. We hope you will try our business again on a much nicer day!
