Trip is about 1.5 - 2.0 hours down the river in an inflatable Kayak- either one or two person variety. These Kayaks do not have a keel to keep it going straight so you learn to control direction using the paddles. The river itself varies between wide pools with little current to fairly narrow and curving areas with fast moving water and small rapids and rocks to work around where the water level is low. There are places to pull to the side and take a break or wait for your friends to catch up but no place to get out of the Kayak. You really don't need previous experience and still have a good time.
The other couple in our group was in the 70's-80's age range with no previous Kayak experience. They took a tandem and generally did well but eventually got hung up on a large rock and remained high-centered about 3/4 of the way down. When we got to the end of the run, we told Thomas what happened and he went up river, helped them off the rock, and then guided them down.
What made the trip was the great service by Thomas and the rest of the team. From our first interaction when we arrived, through the check-in and then trip to the river entry, Thomas was very focused on us, our needs and safety. He went above and beyond to help our friends off the rock and get them to the end.
